Cullinan Ivanov submitted an EOI design proposal for Harden Country Club with the project brief calling for designs for a new clubhouse to replace their existing aged building. Cullinan Ivanov in association with Meridian Construction Services developed a design for a compact (2,200m2) clubhouse building, with one service core serving lounges, café and function rooms across one level.
The main floorplate was set close to street level; this enabled the building to utilise the land falling away from the street toward the course, providing excellent views from the trading floor to the golf course vista beyond. Beneath the main trading floor we housed the golf operations including pro shop and cart stores which opened out directly addressing the 1st Tee and 18th Green.
To anchor the building in its surrounds we utilised a rustic stone base that transitions to more refined, lighter materials of hardwood cladding, steel plate and extensive glazing to the main trading level. A sinuous curved roof structure creates a simple yet distinctive building presence, particularly when viewed from the course.
