Cullinan Ivanov have enjoyed working with Kiama Golf Club since 2014, and this project marks another significant milestone in the Club’s rollout of its long-term vision for renewal.

Cullinan Ivanov, in close collaboration with the Club and Meridian Construction Services, have developed a masterplan to refresh and expand the club’s offers, with a strong focus on modernisation and new alfresco areas that respond to the needs of the changing local area demographics.

Being a smaller regional club, we understand the importance of delivering to a budget and creating the greatest impact possible for a sensible spend. Key elements of the project included creation of a new café offering, enhancements to reception and the arrival sequence, expanding and renewing parts of the existing kitchen to improve operational efficiencies, and refreshing the front of house dining and café areas. The café was designed to allow for the proposed future expansion of a large alfresco F & B area overlooking the first tee.

We also designed improvements to the outdoor gaming area to accommodate additional EGM’s in a more spacious layout.

Other elements of the project included a light makeover to the club’s existing lounge. We achieved this with new furniture, painting and carpet. Working with Signature Floors, we used a plush Axminster carpet in the dining and lounge, and a timber-look vinyl to define the circulation area. The vinyl offered a practical solution for a high traffic area that includes golf shoes. We renewed the café and lounge with muted tones of denim and linen, interspersed with strips of terracotta tiling and satin bronze shelving.

Successful collaboration on interiors with Mia Ward from MIWA and Identity Furniture and Design by Them on custom furniture with high-end textiles, tile and solid timber finishes, elevated the overall look and feel of the venue. We balanced the solidity of Australian Ash timbers and velvet booth settings with visual lightness in hints of rattan, and white powdercoat chair frames and table bases.

We also transformed the club’s existing terrace by re-finishing the existing decking in a weathered grey, adding playful new umbrellas and new outdoor furniture – custom made by Identity Furniture, with additional selections from Stylecraft and Cotswold to create a cool coastal vibe.

To solve major ongoing leaking issues, the project included the replacement of roof sheeting and insulation across the entire roof.

Cullinan Ivanov are proud of the project results and this important addition to our portfolio of regional and golfing venues.
